The Lance Klusener of the club, still living on the reputation of THAT ferocious knock of 33 off only 24 balls including 4 sixes against High Stables! Our (almost) fully qualified umpire, big things are again expected of Andy - whoever’s bat he uses!

Gareth Hunter
Gareth's finest hour of 2009 was his knock of 26 not out as he guided the team home in the 1 wicket victory away to Oceans. Injury, once again, prevented Gareth from making making more of a mark, though he will be keen to carry on his encouraging form towards the end of last year.

Gary Roe
Captain in our debut season in the MWCL, Gary was the unanimous choice to lead the club again in 2009 and proved his worth by leading the side to promotion. Proved his quality with a match-winning 61 not out in our first ever league win which also earned him a share of the Best Individual Performance Award in 2008.

Ian 'Merv' Smith
Our resident quizmaster and middle order batsman, Merv can be relied on to entertain whether with the bat in his hand or putting his body in the way of a screamer heading to the boundary. Had more than his fair share of injury problems during the last few years (don't mention the insect bite), but will be looking to feature more prominently during the coming season.

Our giant Ryan Sidebottom lookalike Mal burst onto the scene in 2012 with some inspirational bowling including a stunning hat-trick! He's also capable of some huge hitting, giving Mal a growing reputation of an all round destroyer.

Michael Bowman
Allrounder Michael was voted 2009's Player of the Year by his teammates after some sterling performances with both bat and ball, but particularly his inspirational fielding which included some awesome catches. If he can catch the edge of some bats with the ball this year and claim more wickets that last years bowling deserved this could be another exciting year for him.

Neil Wakelam
Neil’s metronomically reliable quick bowling has been a key part of Sparta’s success for as long as the team has been in existence, He’s also a far better batsman than he’ll have you believe, so watch out for him towards the tail-end. Neil was 2009's bowler of the year and claimed the clubs first competitive hat-trick.

The batsman of the year jinx haunted Wilf during 2009 after a fantastic year in 2008. Often the calming influence out in the middle towards the end of games, Wilf’s experience brings a somewhat calming influence to the team towards the end of a match.
