(Posted On Wed 9 July, 2014)

Oceans:
135/7 (14 overs) Sonu 42, Gopal 32, Ratty 21

West End
130 all out (14 overs) Sheikh 72, Wally 4-0-22-4

Oceans CC and West end produced possibly the game of the season last night in Felling. Oceans did the double over West end thanks to some brilliant death bowling from Naveen and the impressive Wally Pathan.
Having been put into bat Oceans achieved a competitive total of 135/7 from there 14 overs and it was largely down to a brilliant partnership of 50 between Sonu (42) and Ratty (21). Oceans were content with singles early on in there innings after losing the explosive Wally cheaply. Gopal again showed his class with the bat by making a cool and calm 32 before unluckily being given out lbw. An out of sorts Rian stuck around before being caught out and Ali soon followed to leave Oceans a little behind the rate on 81/4 from nine overs. however, it must also be mentioned that West end were content with patrolling the boundaries for the majority of this innings but were made to pay by Sonu and Ratty in the end.
Both these batsman showed great technique to some fine and accurate bowling by West end.The running was particularly impressive and twos were taken quite frequently to the dismay from the fielders. Sonu played some big blows in between which were of huge importance and Oceans finally finished on 135/7 from there 14 overs.

Oceans made a nervy start to the West end innings which was of surprise. Both opening bowlers strayed and were punished by the opening batsman. West End were in control after 7 overs with 65 runs and no wickets lost. However the introduction of Dave who bowled two fantastic overs and deserved his two wickets along with Rians offcutters applied the breaks on West End. Rian chipped in with two important wickets and the game was still West end til Sheikh the opening batsman was still there. With West end needing 22 from three overs, Rian bowled a brilliant 12th over for 6 runs. The match was still in the oppositions hands with 16 needed off two. The opening two bowlers made amends as Naveen got rid of dangerman Sheikh for 72 thanks to a stunning catch from Wally. Naveen bowled a great line and left Wally defending nine off the last over. This was more then enough for the talented Pathan has he simply blew away the lower order by taking four wickets including a hatrick. This was an amazing end to an amazing match and Oceans secured 10 points and consolidated their position at the top of the division.
