Belmont:
113 (14 overs) Shah Ahmed 66
Dave McCaffrey 4-0-31-1
Oceans:
119 (9 overs) Wally Pathan 47
Gopal 31 Not out
Oceans CC made the long trip to Durham to play their league fixture against Belmont. However the long trip was well worth it in the end as they simply outclassed Belmont in every department. Belmont was asked to bat in a 14 over match. Oceans started well upfront with both Wally and Dave applying the early pressure. Belmont were not a serious threat apart from the opening batsman Shah who seemed to live a charmed life on his way to 66 before being run out. The other Belmont batsman could not take advantage in the final four overs as Ali bowled quite superbly and accordingly to his field. In the end Belmont were content with their score of 113/3 off their 14 overs.
However what they did not expect was a real onslaught from the very first over by Wally Pathan. Having not batted in the previous two games the fiery pathan took his frustrations out on Belmont by taking the game away inside the first five overs. He hit six huge sixes on his way to 47 before being bowled. The damage had been done when he departed and Oceans only required another 28 from 7 overs. Gopal also continued his fine form of late but effortlessly helping himself to 31 not out. He played second fiddle to the mercurial Wally but nevertheless played a pivotal innings for his team yet again. Ali hit three back to back boundaries before departing and the skipper really rubbed the salt into the Belmont wounds by smashing a quickfire 20 not out including two sixes and two fours. It was a great finish to the match by Oceans and they finished on 119/4 from nine overs to take another eight points and remain in pole position.
