Oceans CC got their league campaign off to a perfect start by convincingly beating a poor West End team. The home side chose to bat first on a glorious summers day in Heaton. There left handed opener did not appear to read the script and consumed a lot of balls in a painstaking innings. Oceans bowlers consisting of Gulam, Wally, Naveen and Dave bowled intelligently and skilfully on a somewhat tricky wicket. They gave little away and managed to really dictate proceedings from the first to final bowl. West End finished on a below par 88/7 off their 14 overs with Wally 3/26 and Gulam 1/16 off four overs particularly impressive. In reply, Oceans led by a Wally assault made the pitch look very easy to bat on. Wally clubbed three huge sixes on his way to 43 and was ably supported by Rian 12 not out and Simon 20 not out. Oceans finished the game on 91/2 off nine overs and in return achieved ten points in their first league game of the season.
Oceans next travel to play Genetics at Swallwell CC in a preliminary cup game on Monday.
