Oceans in thrilling last over win

Oceans CC welcomed Northstar to Felling in what proved to be a real classic of a match. Today's match was a 16 overs a side match and Oceans batted first. Oceans were in deep trouble early on in their innings when then they reduced to 21/4 off 5 overs. They had lost their talismanic skipper early on due to a very good and disciplined effort by the Northstar players who today had several Blue Flames first team players. Oceans were indebted massively to inform pair Ratty and Rian who produced a magnificent match saving partnership of 75 runs in 9 overs. Both players played beautifully and complimented each other well.They looked at ease and really put the pressure back on the bowler. When the flambuoyant Rian had perished when the score was on 97, Wally entered the field and finished the innings in devastating fashion by smashing 15 off 4 balls including two sixes. Oceans finally finished on a competitive 117/6 off their 16 overs (Rian 44, Ratty 28 not out).
In reply, Northstar started very quietly and seemed to be static at the crease. Some fine bowling from Chris and Wally was the ideal tonic that Oceans required. Northstar decided to make a real fist of it when there was six overs remaining and they needed 72 off 6 overs.At times some wayward bowling and few big shots came off for the Northstar batsmen and they managed to get themselves into a position where they needed 14 off 6 balls to the shock of the Oceans players. However, the skipper Sonu had other ideas and decided to bowl the final over of the match. After being hit for six off the first ball, the equation was 8 required of 5 balls. Some magnificent fielding from Mudassar and Wally in particular and some intelligent bowling and calmness from the skipper to run out the Northstar batsman when they needed three of the final ball sealed the deal. Oceans won the match by 2 runs and it was a magnificent end to a match that will be remembered by everyone who played in it and watched it.
