Ratty praises team for showing

The captain today has spoken today after yesterday's defeat against three tuns at Gateshead Fell. 'It's always disappointing to lose games at any level but I was happy with the effort my team put in and we gave three tuns a really good game'.

Khan said the match showed Oceans in two simple ways, the good and the bad. 'We were fantastic for the first part of the innings. When I won the toss I had no hesitation but to bat first. Both Rian and Imran batted so nicely. They were very intelligent and picked the gaps. They laid a really good platform for us and it gave the rest of the team confidence. It was disappointing how Rian got out because he looked in very good form and was waiting for the right moment to kick on. We lost our way in the middle order again and it didnt look like we were going to get 120 even. But I put the responsibility on myself to get the team to a match winning score and was delighted with the way I held it together. I feel in good touch and am confident in my ability'.

'The second part was not so good. It's important to always start of well with the ball but the first two overs went for 39 runs and it gave them the perfect platform to launch from. They had the momentum and it was difficult to claw back. My bowlers kept going and especially Rian who I thought was outstanding. He busted his gut for the team and he is a real credit to himself.The disappointing aspect was the extras we gave away. that itself had a few bearing because we gave away 18 and not only this, you have to bowl each delivery again which always ends up getting punished. We didn't have the discipline when needed and it really did cost us to be honest. I have to give credit to three tuns, they batted well to get the score so full credit to them'.

Khan is looking forward to next week's cup game against Genetics at Swalwell, 'They are a good team who play in division 2. We will have to play to our best in all departments to have any chance of winning. I think if we can fine tune the bowling and get it right then we can beat anybody on our day. It's just that part of the game that is letting us down at the moment. It should be a good contest next week and we are going to try our best to reach the next round.
