In a low scoring matching at Close House, Genetics overcame an under-strength Civil Service team. Batting first, Civil Service started carefully with an opening partnership of 34. However, some careless batting, and a brilliant catch in the outfield by Jon Robinson undid the good work. Grant Mason took 2 wickets, and 2 wickets off the last ball (a run out off a no-ball) saw Genetics restrict Civil Service to 65-7 off their 14 overs. In reply, Genetics floundered somewhat until Jon Robinson came to the wicket and only a suicidal run out led to his demise for 24. Jonty Tarbuck held the innings together with a solid 17 not out, hitting the winning runs with a mighty four, and has yet to be dismissed this year.
