Ulgham was the scene for a pleasant cricket match on Sunday, made all the more pleasant by a good win over the local Ulgham side. Winning the toss and electing to bat, Ulgham’s openers looked solid until Chris Mee made the initial breakthrough gaining 2 wickets. Allie Douglas provided good support, and then Brian Taylor, who was the pick of the bowlers, took 3 wickets, including one with his first ball. Andy Goulding and Gary van Doorn cleaned up the tail, while the less said about Gareth Taylor’s bowling effort, the better. Ulgham were all out for 92.
In reply, Genetics looked shaky, although solid innings from Mike Gardner (26), and Raj Rihal (24) helped Genetics on their way. Allie made a quick 15, and it was left to Brian Taylor to hit the winning runs with a glorious four off the first ball faced.
