Oceans CC maintained there impressive unbeaten start to the season against Belmont CC at Bullocksteads last night. The opposition won the toss and elected to bat first posting a competitive 98/7 off there 14 overs, on a difficult batting wicket.Rian,Asman and Sonu did exceptional bowling to restrict the opposition. In reply, Oceans got off to a terrible start and at one stage were 26/4 off 5 overs. They had a huge mountain to climb and then enter captain Ratty and Usman Aziz to the crease.A maginficent partnership of 55 which consisted of running hard between wickets and some meaty blows took Oceans home.Usman played a brilliant knock off 22 but once he perished the game was still quite even. However, the captain as always is the man for the big occasions and pressure situations guided his team home successfully with four balls remaining. One of his shots consisted of a huge six that changed the course of the game and brought rapturous celebrations among the players and fans alike. He finished unbeaten on 34 and is quickly beginning to find that devastating form of last year.So the unbeaten start goes on and the next match is away to East Sleekburn.

Ratty has told his team to quickly forget about the heartache of being out of the cup and focus fully on Tuesday's league match agaist Belmont. He said, 'Its gone, theres no need to think about it because we can't change it.The most important thing is the league and winning every match.A cup run would have been nice but the league is our priority and getting promotion.I feel my boys are capable of beating anybody so that was the only disappointing thing about being knocked out of the cup.
The captain is now fully focused and planning his thoughts and tactics against Belmont on Tuesday.'Even thought we are unbeaten in the league so far, we have to guard against complacency. We must show the same commitment, drive and will to win in the forthcoming matches.I feel the boys will play to there full potential and put in another good performance.

Ratty has today spoken of his teams cup defeat last night against Whitley Bay CC.He first spoke about his side getting knocked out of the cup,'It would have been very nice to have had a run in the cup but it was never meant to be.I thought we would only be chasing about 90 to 100 runs to be honest but that one over from James proved to be the defining moment, as were a few unlucky dismissals of our batsman when they looked well set.But still 118 was definetly gettable and the last over was just disappointing as the game was in our hands. However, in hindsight it may be a good thing as the lads can now fully focus on the bread and butter which is the league and concentrate fully on promotion.
The captain also later talked about the contribution in the match of the Aziz brothers.he said, 'I thought Bilal was again absolutely superb with the ball, his line and length was immaculate and he rarely bowled a bad ball.As for Usman, this is the sort of performance he is capable of.It was a devastating assault which so nearly brought an unlikely victory.I just hope he can maintain this level of performance because if he does, it will be great to watch.Ratty also quicly paid a quick mention to Rian,'Yet again he batted sensibly and intelligently. He was so unlucky to be given out on a no ball and it was probably another defining moment in the game'.

Oceans CC were elimanted last night from the cup against Whitley Bay CC in a thriller. The home side won the toss and elected to bat thereby posting a challenging 118/7 of 14 overs thanks largely to one over from James that went for 31 runs.In reply Oceans kept losing wickets reguraly and somewhat unfortunately.Sonu fell to a great catch and Rian was clearly bowled a no ball which nearly cleaned him out.Oceans were on 60/5 of 8 overs and then entered Usman. He blasted a brutal 44 in quick time and set the game up for Oceans with 9 needed of 8 balls.Sadly the job could not be finished as the last over only went for 3 runs and the team fell agononsily close to causing an upset.Nevertheless, it was another superb performance from the team and the captain hailed the never say die attitude of the team.
