Oceans CC recorded a comprehensive win against High Stables in a friendly yesterday. The hosts won the toss and elected to field.Oceans posted a brilliant score of 205/7 off there 40 overs. They were largely indebted to Rian 35, and a magnificent partnership of 100 between the captain Ratty and Ali who both eventually retired when they got to 50 each.It was a very good total on a difficult wicket, and there was a lot of class and elegance about the way the runs were scored. In reply, High Stable could only muster 108 all out in 33.4 overs. All of the bowlers were given the ball and Asman particularly impressed with figures of 3-10 off his 4 overs.

After last nights agonising defeat against three tuns, the captain has urged his players to learn there lessons from this match,"Even though it was a friendly match, the defeat and the manner of it has still hurt my team.I thought we had a very good score on the board thanks to Arsalan and Sonu, and batting second was not going to be easy. However, they got some impetus early in there run chase and from there it was always difficult to stop the flow of runs. Our bowling was not great, we bowled both sides of the wicket, and if you do that against quality opposition then you get punished, its as simple as that. The biggest let down for me though was the fielding, it was below par and we easily gave 25 plus runs away. You must be good in ALL departments in the game which is batting, bowling and fielding. If you are lacking in even one department, you easily get found out and its difficult to win games. All credit to three tuns, they played very well and took advantage.I hope my team will learn there lesson, and in future do better in these situations".
Nevertheless, Khan was delighted with the work out and looked forward to High Stables on Sunday,"It was very good in terms of nearly everyone getting a workout, they would have benefited from it.We have high stables on sunday in a 30 over match and we are looking forward to that too.By the end of these two games we would have been well prepared for our crunch game against Sparta".

Oceans CC lost last night against Three tuns in a friendly match.Oceans won the toss and elected to bat, and they managed to score a huge score of 170/3 off there 20 overs.Arsalan 69, and Sonu 47 were the main contributors to the total. In reply, Three tuns managed to get the runs with three balls remaining. They finsihed on 172/2 off 19.3 overs. The poor fielding effort from Oceans proved to be costly as 30 runs were easily given aganist a dangerous batting line up.The bowling was also lacklustre and at times lacked penetration.Overall, it was a very good work out for Oceans CC in the first of two friendlies.

With exactly a week to go before the mouthwatering clash against top of the table Sparta, the captain has spoken today of the friendlies before the big one and the need to prepare properly,"We have a 20/20 match against Three Tuns on friday followed up with a 40 over match against High Stables on the Sunday. These are two very good teams who are a division higher. They are well organised teams who will prepare us well for Sparta.I want my team to get as much as they can from these two games, and hope they will provide some entertainment along the way. This will not be played as a friendly, there will be a competitve edge to these and we hope to maintain our winning streak of late'.
Khan later told of the importance of his bowlers and batsman to get a good work out,"The game on friday is obviously short and fun, so there will be a lot of shots and bowls disappering everywhere. However, the game on Sunday is a longer version so am hoping the bowlers will get a longer period of time bowling and the batsman likewise. Its important each individual makes the most out of these two matches, and takes something away from them. They are a very confident group at the moment and are looking forward to both games".
However Khan did say that the team may be slightly different in each game,"We have a big squad here so I will be rotating the players. The players are all playing for there positions against Sparta, so the ones that do impress me will get the nod to play.I do have a team in mind for Sparta but my decision will be firmly on who plays well over the course of these two games. However, I do want them to relax though and not put too much pressure on themselves. They are a good bunch of lads and always go out and give me 100%.As a captain, that is all I can ask for.

The captain has today spoken about the victory over Belmont last night, and said it was all about the basics and doing the job professionaly,"I thought it was a good toss to lose to be honest because you never knew what a good total will be on that wicket. Some balls were staying low and some were climbing quite high. However, I was delighted with my team to restrict them to just 96, and a lot of praise must go to the bowlers and fielders who were alert and always attacked the ball. It was a great effort to restrict them to under a hundred and made our jobs easier with the bat".
Khan was also quick to play down the contribution he made in manufacturing a crucial run out,"I knew there was a chance as soon as he hit it to me, and it was all about how quickly I could release it. It was a crucial wicket too because there was a partnership brewing and he was a dangerous player. As a captain, I know that I have to set the standards either with the bat or in the field, and its something I really enjoy.
Khan later discussed about his decision to bring the dangerous Arsalan down the order,"I wanted to take the pressure off the lad in a run chase. I just feel during a run chase he may be more effective with a score on the board already. My decision was a good one because he played a brutal innings to win us the match quite easily.I also thought the batting off Sonu and Rian was 'world class'.They played quite beautifully, and put an important partnership off about 50.They are technically correct players and I keep telling them all the time that if they just stay at the wicket and play normally then runs will flow quite easily. They are both gifted players and are now applying there minds to the match situation which makes them even more dangerous.I am very proud of them and hope they can continue there good form for the rest of the season".
Khan then looked forward to there next league fixture in a fortnights time away to table topping Sparta in what promises to be a winner take all situation,"The boys are so pumped up for this and cant wait for the match. We have been looking forward to this match ever since they beat us last time.I have full confidence in my players and know they will give me 100%.They have a lot of love for this club and theres great spirit among them.We are united in our desire to finish the number one team in this division, and I firmly believe Sparta will find out on the day.I have placed a strategy in place for that match and did some homework.I will be putting them plans to place and hopefully we will repa rewards. It will be a great match and will be full of tension.I believe the team that will keep there nerve will win and hopefully this time it will be us".
