Oceans CC got of the season to the best possible start with victory over an experienced Coquet outfit. Having won the toss,Coquet elected to bat first and they only mustered 76 runs off their 14 overs. This was mainly due to excellent bowling from all the Oceans bowlers and good fielding. In reply Oceans got home with the loss of 5 wickets finishing on 77/5 of 10 overs and getting a points return of eight. The batting was a little rusty at times but great credit must be given to Rian and Ali who played sensible knocks.

The captain has today addressed to the media that James Ankers has left the club after a 2 year association. In a press conference, he released a statement,'Today is a very sad day for Oceans CC.An important member of our promotion winning team has decided to begin a new adventure with an upcoming team from the 5th division.James was a very liked member of our squad and gave his all in every game. We will miss him a lot and wish him all the best for the future'.
Later on i spoke candidly to the captain about the loss.'Its upsetting, but life goes on.He always displayed a very good attitude both on and off the field. He was very pleasant over the phone in telling me that he was leaving and however much I tried to keep him, his mind was made up.
The team he is joining are fortunate in that he is a team man.He has a lot of quality and has been bowling great in the nets.He will definitely be a great addition to them'.
The captain was also asked whether there could be a possible reunion,'Yeah ofcourse there is.The door is always open to James if he ever wants to come back.I have let him know this and he is well aware. We have to just soldier on.Losing one player is a blow, but im looking to recruit a few more players in the next couple of weeks'.We need to add depth to our team but they must be better than the players that we have got'.

Well we do have new additions. We have just signed a lad who will give us even more depth in our bowling.I saw him bowl on Sunday and he was quite magnificent bowling a wonderful line and length against good batsman.I think he will be a revelation. I am also looking to recruit a batsman and know that one experienced batsman is very eager to play for us.We need more depth to our batting line up and you can't buy experience.
Well as for my captaincy last season, I thought I did really well.We won the league and got promoted last season. What more can a captain do.I have been aggresive with my captaincy, but at times when bowlers are bowling both sides of the wicket then you have to be more defensive. My captaincy instincts are good, and I got more decisions right then wrong last season, hence, us winning the league.
I have a very strong bowling unit. I regard Arsalan, Bilal, Asman, Adeel, Rian,James and at times Sonu the bowlers who I will turn too. However in some important games, I am going to and will continue to use my experienced bowlers more because we need to win the game.We play for fun but also to win. The nature of my captaincy will always be to use my gut instincts in situations where we need a wicket or need to bowl a tidy over. I expect my players to play and be part of a team that wants to win.Everybody will get a chance, and when you do then you have to perform to the best of your abilities.
As for the likes of giving other people a bowl, well that won't happen in league or cup matches. We will always try and get maximum points in our matches. As for friendlies, I will experiment a lot more and give people who have not bowled before a chance.

- Are there any new additions to the squad?
- How will your tactics and captaincy decisions differ from last years, in other words will we see a more alert and aggressive captain in comparison to previous years?
- Last year we seen aggressive fast baling from likes of Arsalan and Bilal which was flowed by medium fast baling from likes of Gulam, Asman, James and Adeel. My question to you is will the captain stick to his seam bowlers or experiment more with likes of Ali and use more spin options?
