Inter Sage Game

(Posted On Tue 3 April, 2007)

It's time to enter battle once more, club your work colleagues for six over cow corner, sledge those less gifted than yourself and of course eat the best Vol Au Vents in the North East, not to mention the now infamous Lang Strawberry Gateau!!!

It's the Inter Sage pre-season game once again. Not only is a great start to the season, it is also a chance to stake a claim for league and cup games. It may be fun but it has a more serious underbelly!

Please use the above voting button to advise if you are 'available for selection' for the Sage C.C. trial match. Reply no later than close of play Wednesday 18th April 2007.
Sunday 29th April 2007
Meet at Percy Main C.C. at 12.30
1.00 p.m. start.
40 overs a side match (this means we will probably finish around 7 pm)
Andy Beer will split the names into two evenly balanced sides.
Andy Beer will captain one side, Gareth Underwood the other.
Everyone must bring 'tea for two'. The means everyone must bring loads of sandwiches, cakes, pizza, sausage rolls etc etc. Two tea ladies (anyone have any volunteers?) will then pool everything we bring, and present us with a traditional cricket tea.
Following the 18th April, a further email with the two teams and further information, will be circulated.
Confirm your interest now!

Club Announcement

(Posted On Tue 3 April, 2007)

It is with a hint of sadness that we have to announce that David Moodie, has resigned as club captain and the Sage Cricket Club Management team.

David, as some of you may already know, started the Club 10 years ago and has captained the team to 3 promotions, culminating in last years successful campaign. The club going forward is in fantastic shape, both on and off the field and this is in no small way down to his hard work and efforts over the last 18 months.

David will still take part this season as a player only, when available (and if selected!), so we will still see his bulky shape about the changing rooms during the summer.

The S.C.C Management team would like it noted, we have appreciated all of his time and effort and would like to thank him greatly for the hard work he's put in over the last 18 months. He always put his body on the line for the club, unlike his average!! Thank you from us all David.

As always, the club must move on and we would like to announce the following changes:
Andrew Beer will take over the role of Captain for the 2007 Season
Gareth Underwood has been offered and has gladly accepted the role of Vice Captain for the 2007 season
Gareth will also become an active member of the S.C.C Management Team
Chris Harrison (Player/Manager), Tim Whittles (S.C.C Management Member) and Michael Sherman (S.C.C Management Member), positions remain as before.

We have 2 friendlies coming up in April (including the Inter Sage game), which we will circulate to you all very soon.

Don't forget the league season starts w/c 30th April, lets make sure it is another one to remember.

Any questions, please drop us an email to cricket@sage.com

Here's to the coming season.
