Cup Competition 2010Draw made at April meeting The Sadler Brown North-East Mid-Week Cricket League Cup Final was held on Sunday 22nd at Swalwell CC. Kirkwood batted first against Stocksfield and scored 273-5 off their 30 eight ball overs. Opener M Usman retired exhausted after scoring 120 in the strong sunshine. Parag Chauhan made a useful supporting 54 as Stocksfield tried to plug the gaps in the large field and six bowlers were used with wickets shared round. The Stocksfield reply started at a good scoring rate despite early losses. D Ayre recorded 46 and C Patterson 44 in a spirited response to a big target. However, wickets fell steadily and Stocksfield were dismissed for 167 in the 24th over. Amjad Ali claimed 5-23 off his 6 overs. Christine Howe who runs the Sadler Brown firm of consulting architects in Newcastle presented the cup to Kirkwood skipper Amjad Ali and the man of the match shield to M Usman. Michael Haywood receifed the finalists' shield. Match balls were supplied by Just Sport. Umpires were Wilf Hook and Graham Davison, scorer Dave Wardman.
